If you were involved in a car accident, and the driver of the other vehicle is insisting the accident was your fault when it definitely was not, you will want to take the necessary steps to prove your innocence. Here are some steps you should take when fighting a false car accident accusation in an attempt to prove the incident was actually caused by the other party.
Hire An Attorney
It will be extremely important to have a car accident attorney on your side. They will be able to use past cases to come up with a defense plan to thwart the unfortunate plan the other party is using to make you appear guilty. Since they have most likely tried many accident cases in the past, they will know which maneuvers will work in proving the other driver was actually the one at fault. They might even be able to prove the other party should make payments to you to pay for damage to your car or for any medical problems you sustained as a result of the accident.
Obtain Valuable Witnesses
Find out who had been near the accident when it had happened. If there were people who had seen what had happened, they may be willing to testify on your behalf to show you were not the one at fault. If possible, take photographs of any other vehicles in the area so you have license plate and model information in case people leave the scene before you have a chance to speak with them. Find out if the incident was on camera. Sometimes there are traffic cameras installed overhead to help keep track of busy street times. If the area had a camera running at the time of the incident, the entire scenario may be able to be played back to prove innocence. See if nearby companies or any witnesses had taken footage as well.
